Valentine's Day Card Swap

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I have just participated in my first international card swap through Fave Crafts and Swap-Bot. We had to make 3 Valentine’s Day cards to send to 3 different people. I made all the one design, simple but elegant using metallic Violet Red and Quartz papers. I cut the quilling strips myself to match the background piece. Two hearts side by side <3 Hopefully the postal systems will get them all there in time!

I hope my recipients like them and I can’t wait to receive mine.

Painted Paper Bead Swap

  • Posted on February 10, 2011 at 6:29 PM

As I wrote earlier, I signed up to be part of a painted paper bead swap. What fun it has been to do them!

While the beads were waiting to be painted, stuck on toothpicks in some foam, they reminded me of long fingernails. Red! They had to be painted red! Into my stash I went and found a briliiant shiny bright red polish – Sizzling Red it’s called!  And of course, with Sophie advising, some had to be painted with the glitter polish too. :)

Long Fingers!

So 36 beads have now been painted, 18 bright red, 18 bright red with glitter and sent off to the US. For Sophie they look like fireworks, for Amy they look like the flames of a fire and for me, lovely long talons. (I’m a nail biter so I do dream !)

I really love how they turned out and can’t wait to see what everyone else has sent in.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to everyone out there! It is a little belated, I know.

It’s been a bit quiet on the creating front so far this year. The girls have been doing their craft kits from Santa as well as some science experiments but we have taken what good weather we have had to visit my parents who live near a beach. :) We’ve also had Amy’s birthday since Christmas and Sophie’s is next week. Not good timing with two January birthdays!!

While I may not have been creating much so far, I have been doing some ground work organising to sell quilling supplies as well as getting organised for 2 craft fairs I will be at. I am also looking into a regular artisan market and hopefully also running some classes. I will have to get myself creating in the next week though for 2 swaps I am in; one is for Valentine’s Day cards and another for Painted Paper Beads.

It should be a busy and exciting year ahead!
