On a roll again!

  • Posted on July 16, 2014 at 2:35 PM

It has been a long time since I have done any craftwork. All my stash has been backed away in tubs for months as I decided to move on to do other things, including going back to casual high school teaching.

But I missed my crafts and I missed the fun of markets.

SO…

I’m back at it.

The tubs have been rolled out and sorted (it’s been like Christmas!) and I have even done some updating to this website. It took a while to work out how to log in again!!! I’m behind on upgrades but will have to wait until Greg does a back up before I do that – don’t want to lose everything! I also need to work out how to replace the banner photos again.

I am going to be changing my focus away from kits and supplies to be more about what I create. It is what I enjoy. I will be having my online shop over at hand-made.com.au where you can browse all my products as I upload them (please be patient!) and pay securely as well. They are really lovely people who did some extra work for me a while back when I asked about some new categories for my unique products and they were very obliging so I’m happy to finally be able to get started on them. You’ll also be able to grab a bargain as I clear out the products I won’t be reordering.

Join my Facebook page (there’s a link in the left sidebar) to also keep up to date with news in between these posts.

So it’s back to twirling and rolling paper I go. Happy :)

Crafting Space

  • Posted on August 8, 2012 at 9:09 AM

I have at last found a great layout to get my craft done! It’s only taken me how long????

With lots of natural light for during the day and straight under a good light together with my desk lamp for night time work, I am now ready to get seriously crafty! I’ve found my glasses too which is also a wonderful thing!!!

My plan is to post photos of my creations and get them into the online shop. I am also looking into other markets and craft fairs around Sydney. All plans need to be flexible here but at least my space is sorted!

Hornsby Craft Fair Preparations

  • Posted on June 15, 2012 at 1:04 PM

I am getting very excited about the upcoming Hornsby Craft Fair at Hornsby RSL. I have spent this week creating some paper bead items and have really enjoyed getting creative again. I think I was missing the point of it being fun and was trying to make everything bigger and more complicated than it should be. I am also looking into some other local markets and fairs.

To see what I’ve been creating, come along to Hornsby RSL, Sunday June 24th, 11am – 4pm.

Now to get some quilling done…

HORNSBY CRAFT FAIR

I’m very excited, as on the weekend, I found out that my application to be a stallholder at the Hornsby Craft Fair was successful :)

On Sunday, 24th June, from 11am – 4pm, come to the Hornsby RSL Showroom to visit me (!) and also see a great assortment of Art, Craft, Jewellery and more, handmade by local people.

For sale, I will have quilling tools, papers, books, paper bead rollers, paper glaze, kits as well as finished pieces handmade by me. If you plan on coming and there is something in particular you would like to see, please let me know.

It is very exciting to be a part of this local and very popular quarterly fair.

What’s Happening?

  • Posted on March 9, 2012 at 5:13 PM

Yes, it has been a long time between posts and a lot has been happening – not much craft though! A lot of thinking has been happening and the way Cassis Craft will be moving forward will be changing.

Cassis Craft was meant to be my way of doing what I love while still staying at home to be there for my family. Unfortunately, we have a small house and to run the business the way I would like to can not happen in this space. So…

I will be maintaining a small inventory of paper bead and quilling supplies, sourcing what I can that is a little different. I will focus more on what I would like to make rather than what I think everyone else expects and I will be making kits up of the projects I make. I won’t be trading at large craft fairs and I won’t be trying to stock every piece of quilling paper in the world! I would also like to start writing books. Books on craft and also my other love, food.  I am also running the uniform shop at my daughters’ school as a P&C volunteer and am also looking into returning to casual teaching. Yes, I think that will keep me busy enough!!

So thank you for your patience while I work this out. There will be some bargains happening as I streamline the stock so keep your eye out and subscribe to keep updated so you don’t miss out! You can also Like Cassis Craft on Facebook – click on the link to the left!

Quiet Time

  • Posted on October 21, 2011 at 1:07 PM

It’s been quiet for me on the creative front. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy with Cassis Craft! At last, I have reorganised our front room into a very pleasant functional office for both myself and Greg. I have all my stock in there now instead of in various rooms and my in-law’s house. Greg has his desk in there too now.

The girls, however, had a fabulously creative time during the school holidays recently, being let loose on their craft box. They had some friends over one day too and the four girls had a great time creating all sorts of things. I don’t mind glue and glitter mess at all; with floorboards you can never quite get all the spilt glitter but at least the glue wipes off :)

The friends’ Mum commented that she couldn’t believe that they hadn’t asked to watch the TV in all the time they were crafting. This got me thinking. I couldn’t remember the last time the girls watched TV or a DVD, except for when we were all sick and we weren’t capable of moving or thinking! It’s just not something we do. Even Greg and I don’t watch it very often. I just don’t think there’s much on worth watching! As for children’s shows, well, are there any decent ones for 7 and 5 year olds? They used to watch Play School and some other ABC shows as preschoolers but now that it seems to be a 24 hour channel, it just seems like endless dribble!

Our girls enjoy craft, reading, puzzles, board games, Barbies, cars, Lego and always seem to be busy with each other making up games too. I sometimes wonder if I should suggest the TV or let them on the computer more often.

I love watching them during craft time and being involved. We love discovering what’s still in the box. We work together sometimes. We suggest ideas. We share. We argue! There can be tears. Ah, quiet time!

What do you do for quiet time? What do your kids do? Is there anything decent on TV?!?!
